On September 29 is the birthday of

Jeffrey "Jeff" Wall, Canadian artist born in 1946, best known for his large-scale back-lit cibachrome photographs and art history writing. Wall has been a key figure in Vancouver's art scene since the early-1970s. Early in his career, he helped define the Vancouver School and he has published essays on the work of his colleagues and fellow Vancouverites Rodney Graham, Ken Lum and Ian Wallace. His photographic tableaux often take Vancouver's mixture of natural beauty, urban decay and postmodern and industrial featurelessness as their backdrop.

Today, September 30, is the birthday of

Tom Millea, American photographer born in 1944.
«I have a vivid memory of my first camera It was given to me as a Christmas present when I was seven, and the following period was one of the happiest of my childhood. However, it was not until college that photography became a life commitment.
Meeting Paul Caponigro and learning from him about the work of other photographers showed me the path I wanted to follow. This period gave me a basis to build on and affirmed my feeling that there was more to photography than representational imagery, it could reflect my philosophy of life.»
He died in 2015.
