El 13 de Octubre es el cumple de
Beverley Goodway, fotógrafo inglés nacido en 1943, conocido por sus fotos de glamour que se publicaban en la página 3 del diario The Sun en el Reino Unido.
Comenzó su carrera con una agencia de noticias en 1965 tras ser rechazada cuando solició un lugar en la escuela de medicina, él entonces trabajaba para el Daily Mail y The Times. Se unió a The Sun en 1968 donde fotografió chicas para la Página Tres durante un período de 33 años a partir de 1970. Entre ellas se cuentan Kathy Lloyd, Jordania, Samantha Fox, Linda Lusardi y Suzanne Mizzi.
Goodway tuvo cáncer de próstata durante 16 años y murió por ello a los 69 años, en el Hospital Royal Brompton en Londres.

El 14 de Octubre es el cumple de
Cristina García Rodero, fotógrafa española nacida en 1949.
Licenciada en Bellas Artes por la Universidad Complutense de Madrid, comienza su carrera docente en 1974 dando clase de dibujo en la Escuela de Artes y Oficios de Madrid. En 1983 comienza a impartir clases de fotografía en la Facultad de Bellas Artes de la Universidad Complutense de Madrid, actividad que realiza hasta 2007. Ha compatibilizado su tarea docente con la creación fotográfica y la colaboración en diversas publicaciones periódicas españolas y extranjeras. Ha sido la primera española que ha entrado a trabajar con la agencia fotoperiodística Magnum.Sus primeras obras aparecen en los concursos universitarios a finales de los años sesenta. En 1973 se plantea la tarea de fotografiar costumbres y fiestas por toda España para lo que recibe una beca. Posteriormente ha realizado reportajes sobre tradiciones en diferentes países.
Su obra fotográfica se podría enmarcar en el reportaje, aunque desde un punto de vista muy personal.

El 15 de Octubre es el cumple de
James Francis "Frank" Hurley, fotógrafo y aventurero australiano nacido en 1885. Participó en varias expediciones a la Antártida y se desempeñó como fotógrafo oficial de las fuerzas australianas durante ambas guerras mundiales.
Su estilo artístico produjo muchas imágenes memorables. También utilizó escenarios, composiciones y manipulación fotográfica.
Hurley fue el fotógrafo oficial de la Expedición Australasia Antártica de Mawson, y también el fotógrafo oficial de la Expedición Imperial Trans-Antártica de Ernest Shackleton que se inició en 1914 y permaneció aislada hasta agosto de 1916. Hurley produjo muchas imágenes pioneras en color de la Expedición, utilizando el entonces popular proceso Paget de fotografía en color.
Murió en 1962.

El 16 de Octubre es el cumple de
Rémi Ochlik, galardonado fotoperiodista francés nacido en 1983, conocido por sus fotografías de guerra, el conflicto en Haití y las revoluciones de la Primavera Árabe.
De niño tenía ambiciones de convertirse en arqueólogo, pero después que su abuelo le regalara una cámara Olympus OM1, Ochlik cambió su interés hacia la fotografía.
Comenzó a trabajar para la agencia de fotografía Wostok en septiembre de 2002, inicialmente fotografiando manifestaciones. Después de salir de Wostok en 2005, Ochlik fundó la agencia fotográfica parisina IP3 Press y por primera vez obtuvo un carné de prensa francés.
Murió en el bombardeo de febrero 2012 de Homs durante el levantamiento de Siria (2011-2012) con la veterana corresponsal de guerra Marie Colvin.

El 17 de Octubre es el cumple de
Alexander Gardner, fotógrafo escocés nacido en 1821 que emigró a Estados Unidos en 1856, donde comenzó a trabajar a tiempo completo en la profesión. Es conocido por sus fotografías de la Guerra Civil estadounidense, del presidente Abraham Lincoln, y de la ejecución de los conspiradores de su asesinato.
Abraham Lincoln se convirtió en presidente de Estados Unidos en las elecciones de noviembre 1860, y junto con su elección llegó la amenaza de la guerra. Gardner, estando en Washington, estaba bien posicionado para estos eventos, y su popularidad aumentó como fotógrafo de retratos, captando los rostros de los soldados que partían para la guerra.
Murió en 1882.

Mika Ninagawa (蜷川実花), fotógrafa y directora japonesa nacida en 1972, conocida por sus fotografías vibrantes y de vivo colorido de flores, peces de colores y paisajes. Ha tenido un importante éxito comercial en moda y publicidad. Hizo su debut como directora de largometrajes en 2007 con Sakuran. En septiembre de 2010 fue lanzado su vídeo musical AKB48 de la canción "Heavy Rotation". Dirigió la adaptación de la película de acción real del manga Helter Skelter en 2012.

Hoy, 19 de Octubre, es el cumple de
George Holz, fotógrafo estadounidense nacido en 1956, conocido por sus trabajos en moda y retratos de celebridades. Su obra ha aparecido en GQ, InStyle, Vanity Fair, Glamour y Rolling Stone.
Después de su éxito en Europa, Holz se mudó a Nueva York a mediados de la década de 1980, donde abrió un estudio en Greenwich Village. Continuó fotografiando moda para Harper's Bazaar, la revista Interview y el New York Times, y comenzó también a retratar celebridades, publicando sus imágenes en InStyle, Personas, Glamour, la revista Rolling Stone, Entertainment Weekly, GQ y Vanity Fair. On October 13 is the birthday of

He began his career with a news agency in 1965 after he was turned down for a place at medical school, he then worked for the Daily Mail and The Times. He joined The Sun in 1968 where he photographed Page Three girls over a 33 year period from 1970 including; Kathy Lloyd, Jordan, Samantha Fox, Linda Lusardi and Suzanne Mizzi.
Goodway had prostate cancer for 16 years and died of cancer, at age 69, at the Royal Brompton Hospital in London.

Cristina García Rodero, Spanish photographer born in 1949.
Bachelor of Fine Arts from the Complutense University of Madrid, began her teaching career in 1974 giving drawing class at the School of Arts and Crafts in Madrid. In 1983 she began teaching photography at the Faculty of Fine Arts at the Complutense University of Madrid, an activity that takes up 2007. She has combined his educational task with photographic creation and collaboration in various Spanish and foreign periodical publications. She was the Spanish who first started working with photojournalistic agency Magnum. Her early works appear in university competitions in the late sixties. In 1973 she assumes the task of photographing customs and festivals throughout Spain for which she received a grant. She subsequently carried stories about traditions in different countries.
His photographic work could be framed in the reportage, albeit from a very personal point of view.
On October 15 is the birthday of
James Francis "Frank" Hurley, Australian photographer and adventurer born in 1885. He participated in a number of expeditions to Antarctica and served as an official photographer with Australian forces during both world wars.
His artistic style produced many memorable images. He also used staged scenes, composites and photographic manipulation.
Hurley was the official photographer to Mawson's Australasian Antarctic Expedition, and also the official photographer on Ernest Shackleton's Imperial Trans-Antarctic Expedition which set out in 1914 and was marooned until August 1916; Hurley produced many pioneering colour images of the Expedition using the then-popular Paget process of colour photography.
He died in 1962.
On October 16 is the birthday of
Rémi Ochlik, award-winning French photojournalist born in 1983, who was known for his photographs of war and conflict in Haiti and the Arab Spring revolutions.
As a child he had ambitions of becoming an archaeologist, but after he was given an Olympus OM1 camera by his grandfather, and Ochlik gravitated toward his interest in photography.
Rémi Olchik began working for photography agency Wostok in September 2002 where he initially began photographing demonstrations.[1][4] After leaving Wostok in 2005, Ochlik founded the Parisian photographic agency, IP3 Press, and for the first time was able to get a French press card.
Ochlik died in the February 2012 bombardment of Homs during the 2011–2012 Syrian uprising with veteran war correspondent Marie Colvin.
On October 17 is the birthday of
Alexander Gardner, Scottish photographer born in 1821, who emigrated to the United States in 1856, where he began to work full-time in that profession. He is best known for his photographs of the American Civil War, U.S. President Abraham Lincoln, and the execution of the conspirators to Lincoln's assassination.
Abraham Lincoln became the American President in the November 1860 election and along with his election came the threat of war. Gardner, being in Washington, was well-positioned for these events, and his popularity rose as a portrait photographer, capturing the visages of soldiers leaving for war.
He died in 1882.
On October 18 is the birthday of

George Holz, American photographer born in 1956, known for his fashion and celebrity portraiture. His work has appeared in GQ, InStyle, Vanity Fair, Glamour and Rolling Stone.
After his success in Europe, Holz moved to New York in the mid-1980s, where he opened a studio in Greenwich Village. He continued to shoot fashion editorial for Harper's Bazaar, Interview Magazine and the New York Times, and began celebrity portraiture as well, publishing his images in InStyle, People, Glamour, Rolling Stone, Entertainment Weekly, GQ, and Vanity Fair. Notably, Holz was one of the first major photographers to shoot Angelina Jolie at the beginning of her career.
